ABOUT S.O.L.A.R.

Mission Statement

S.O.L.A.R. dedicates itself to preserving the timeless natural features of East Haddam which give the town its unique character. S.O.L.A.R. works with East Haddam's elected officials to preserve the pristine and historic roadways, waterways, vistas, trees, and the land that connects us to our past and which will enrich our future.

S.O.L.A.R. is a young organization that has been active in the support of:

  • Sims Lane scenic Road designation
  • Juda Lane scenic road designation
  • Preservation of an historic White Oak tree on Clark Hill Road
  • Bogel Road scenic road designation
  • Removal of toxic waste dumped at a local industrial park

What S.O.L.A.R. is not:

S.O.L.A.R. is not opposed to growth and development; rather we support intelligent, sensitive development and growth that is in keeping with the historical rural character of East Haddam.

Solar is not made up of people who won't listen to reason; we are a group of dedicated articulate people who care about our neighborhoods and are committed to preserving the natural beauty of our lands and roads.
